Send us your interview materials. Please send us your resume, cover letter (if relevant) and a copy of the job description prior to your interview coaching session so your coach can review these documents and suggest an appropriate interviewing strategy.

Prepare answers to common interview questions. You should come to your coaching session prepared to answer the following common interview questions:

Resume and Cover Letter Writing

Man proudly shows his resume during a job interview

Your resume and cover letter is critical to your future.

At Interview SOS, we maintain the highest standards in creating compelling resumes and cover letters that get jobs. We guarantee:

  • Your resume and cover letter will be professionally written from scratch by one of our professional resume writers right here in Los Angeles.
  • Your resume and cover letter will be reviewed by at least two resume writers for quality control purposes.
  • Your resume and cover letter will focus on your marketable achievements, not simply your responsibilities at prior jobs.

Resume Writing Process

Based on our years of experience, we have created a process that ensures that only resumes of the highest quality are produced.

  1. Start by filling out our online resume formThis form includes:
    1. Sending us your existing resume and cover letter if you have one
    2. An education section
    3. An employment section
    4. A target job section (Identify a posted job you are interested in applying for and give us in the form the job description and title. This helps us to customize the resume for the type of work you are interested in.)
    5. Miscellaneous Skills Section
  2. If you request a Phone Consultation ($49.99 additional fee), your resume writer will call to conduct a “resume interview” and ask additional questions about your background, experience and accomplishments at prior jobs. Over the phone, your resume writer will review the resume and/or cover letter with you line by line, seeking clarification and trying to identify potential areas for improvement.  A Phone Consultation is not essential for a great resume, but some clients request is this service if they have difficulty articulating their marketable skills and accomplishments at prior jobs on their resume form.
  3. Your resume writer will produce a first draft of your resume and/or cover letter. Your resume writer will submit the first draft of your resume and/or cover letter to another resume writer, who will proofread the documents and make suggestions for improvement. Quality control is very important for resumes and, like all of the steps in this process, we take the proofreading very seriously.
  4. Your resume writer will send you the first draft of your resume via email  within 3 business days based on the information you submitted in the form. Rush Service ($19.99) will guarantee you get your resume within 1 business day.
  5. You can provide feedback on your resume and suggest areas for improvement. Your resume writer will respond to any questions and concerns you may have and revise your resume accordingly.

The Interview SOS System

How It Works

We’ll advise you on how to:

  • Prepare for an interview
  • Demonstrate that you have the educational background, skills and qualifications required
  • Answer tough questions
  • Overcome shyness and anxiety
  • Dress appropriately for the interview
  • Address weaknesses in your application

We find that most graduate school applicants require two interview coaching sessions in addition to their own preparations for the interview. The first of these sessions usually focuses on general interview questions that you are likely to see as part of your interview. The second session usually focuses on specific issues related to your education, background, and experience and the specific school you are applying for.

Prior to your coaching session, you should:

Please send us your resume, the name of the school(s) and program(s) you are applying for, and a copy of your application prior to the interview. Your coach will review these documents and suggest an appropriate interviewing strategy for you.

Prepare answers to common interview questions. You should come to your coaching session prepared to answer the following common interview questions:

  1. Tell me about yourself? [Hint: Give a 2–3 minute personal sales pitch that explains what led you to apply for graduate school]
  2. Why are you interested in your chosen professional or graduate school? Why do you want to be a nurse/physician/dentist? Why do you want to go to business school or get a Masters Degree or a Doctoral Degree?
  3. Why are you interested in our specific program or graduate school? [Hint: Explain how the school you are applying to is different and better than other similar schools.]
  4. What other graduate schools are you applying for and why?
  5. What is your greatest strength? What are your strengths?
  6. What is your greatest weakness? What are your weaknesses?
  7. Tell me about your greatest achievement.
  8. How do you deal with conflict?
  9. Do you have any questions for me? [Hint: Have 5–10 intelligent, researched questions prepared for your interviewer]

You can also bring a list of questions and concerns about the interview process for your coach to answer.

Please read our Definitive Guide to Ace Your Interview and Get the Job for additional hints on how to answer interview questions successfully and how to prepare for an interview. Career Seminars and Resume Workshops

Vijay Ingam, the founder of Interview SOS, gives fully interactive Career Seminars and Resume Workshops to groups and organizations in southern California. These seminars will ensure that the members of your organization are prepared for this difficult job market. Past seminars have been given to Americorps volunteers, UCLA student professional organizations, and Los Angeles area summer internship programs. Listen to some excerpts from a recent career seminar.

A typical Career Seminar and Resume Workshop covers the following subjects:

  • Resume writing
  • Cover letter writing
  • Job interview preparation

Career Seminars and Resume Workshops include a PowerPoint presentation and interactive workshop exercises designed to help seminar participants develop resume writing, cover letter writing and job interview skills. Seminar organization, length, and activities can be modified to meet the needs of your organization.

Seminar participants should expect to bring their resumes, cover letters, and questions about the career process. Audience participation is strongly encouraged and small prizes will be given to audience members who answer questions.

We are happy to provide references from past seminar participants to show how successful our seminars have been in the past. We will also provide sample slides from past workshops.

Seminars are typically billed at hourly rates including transportation time to and from the seminar location. Please call 310–871-6695 to check availability.

Letter of Reference Writing Service

A well written professional letter of reference is critical for your application for employment or graduate school. While your teachers and employers (or whomever you asked to write the letter of reference) may hold you in the highest regard, they may not have the writing skills, professional knowledge, or time to draft a truly compelling personalized letter of reference. Letters of reference often say “He was really nice guy” instead of saying that “He was a serious professional who always exceeded performance expectations and stayed late to make sure the job was done.”

With our letter of reference writing service, one of our professional reference writers will contact your reference and help them to draft a glowing letter of reference that highlights your accomplishments, marketable skills, knowledge, and work ethic. We do not use form letters, and your letter of reference will be completely unique and honest, although it may follow certain standard guidelines used in professional letters of reference.

Before using this service, please make sure that your teacher or employer or whomever you asked to write the reference is happy to collaborate with us. Emphasize that the letter we help them to write will be honest and will save them time. The person writing your reference will need to review, sign off on, and submit the final product.

Please note that since all of our letters of reference are honest, reflect your actual academic or work experience, and are approved and submitted by your reference, they do not violate academic dishonestly standards.

I greatly appreciate Vijay as he makes me willingness to get success in interviews. I still in touch with vijay and recommend all to interact with him if you want bright career.

      Nancy (Banking) Dallas, TX

After the construction company I worked for over the last 5 years closed down, I found myself out of work. I went to a couple of job interviews and found I did badly. VJ at helped prepare me one on one via Skype for the interview process again and coached me on overcoming my nervousness. He also helped me tweak my resume so I would stand out. To be honest, I haven’t found a job yet, but VJ helped me in my job search.

      Keri R (Accounting) Salem, OR

My company matched [retracted] offer so I ended up staying. Still appreciate all your help. If you need a reference let me know.
