Job Interview Preparation

The Interview SOS System

How It Works

Our Job Interview Preparation services are designed to help a job applicant prepare for a  interview. Our job interview coaches will advise you on how to:

  • Prepare for an interview
  • Answer tough questions
  • Demonstrate that you have the skills and qualifications required for the specific job
  • Overcome shyness and anxiety
  • Dress appropriately for the interview
  • Address weaknesses in your application
  • And Much, Much More!

Our recommendations will be tailored specifically for you, your strengths and weaknesses, and the job you are applying for.

Prior to your coaching session, you should:

Send us your interview materials. Please send us your resume, cover letter (if relevant) and a copy of the job description prior to your interview coaching session so your coach can review these documents and suggest an appropriate interviewing strategy.

Prepare answers to common interview questions. You should come to your coaching session prepared to answer the following common interview questions:

  1. Tell me about yourself? [Hint: Give a 2–3 minute personal sales pitch]
  2. Why are you leaving your current or previous job?
  3. What is your greatest strength? What are your strengths?
  4. What is your greatest weakness? What are your weaknesses?
  5. Why are you interested in this position or company?
  6. Tell me about your greatest achievement.
  7. How do you deal with conflict?
  8. Do you have any questions for me? [Hint: Have 5–10 intelligent, researched questions prepared for your interviewer]

You can also bring a list of questions and concerns about the job interview process for your coach to answer.

After scheduling an appointment, please read our Definitive Guide to Ace Your Interview and Get the Job for additional hints on how to answer interview questions successfully and how to prepare for an interview. Graduate School Interview Preparation

The career coaches of Interview SOS can help you succeed in your interview and get into the graduate or professional school of your dreams.

We have helped prospective students like you interview for graduate school. Past clients have interviewed for:

  • Medical School (MD & DO)
  • Nursing School (RN, ASN, BSN, & MSN)
  • Business School (MBA)
  • Law School (JD)
  • Dental School (DMD & DDS)
  • Doctoral Programs (PhD)
  • Other Masters Programs (MA & MS)

We’ll advise you on how to:

  • Prepare for an interview
  • Demonstrate that you have the educational background, skills and qualifications required
  • Answer tough questions
  • Overcome shyness and anxiety
  • Dress appropriately for the interview
  • Address weaknesses in your application

We find that most graduate school applicants require two interview coaching sessions in addition to their own preparations for the interview. The first of these sessions usually focuses on general interview questions that you are likely to see as part of your interview. The second session usually focuses on specific issues related to your education, background, and experience and the specific school you are applying for.

Prior to your coaching session, you should:

Please send us your resume, the name of the school(s) and program(s) you are applying for, and a copy of your application prior to the interview. Your coach will review these documents and suggest an appropriate interviewing strategy for you.

Prepare answers to common interview questions. You should come to your coaching session prepared to answer the following common interview questions:

  1. Tell me about yourself? [Hint: Give a 2–3 minute personal sales pitch that explains what led you to apply for graduate school]
  2. Why are you interested in your chosen professional or graduate school? Why do you want to be a nurse/physician/dentist? Why do you want to go to business school or get a Masters Degree or a Doctoral Degree?
  3. Why are you interested in our specific program or graduate school? [Hint: Explain how the school you are applying to is different and better than other similar schools.]
  4. What other graduate schools are you applying for and why?
  5. What is your greatest strength? What are your strengths?
  6. What is your greatest weakness? What are your weaknesses?
  7. Tell me about your greatest achievement.
  8. How do you deal with conflict?
  9. Do you have any questions for me? [Hint: Have 5–10 intelligent, researched questions prepared for your interviewer]

You can also bring a list of questions and concerns about the interview process for your coach to answer.

Resume and Cover Letter Writing

Man proudly shows his resume during a job interview

You should be proud of your resume.

Sometimes we encounter candidates who have difficulty applying for jobs because their current resume and cover letter does not accurately reflect their skills, background, work experience, and academic credentials as relevant to the jobs they are applying for. For such clients, we offer resume and cover letter re-writing services. This typically requires 3 hours of independent writing and 1 hour of face time with the client for a total of 4 hours.

We’ll make you a resume you can be proud of.

Then I moved on to find a good job. I got chances to give interviews but even being an experience banker I was unable to clear the interviews. With some of my reference I took coaching classes online from Vijay and enhance my ability to answers the questions, how to sit, talk and other traits. I greatly appreciate Vijay as he makes me willingness to get success in interviews. I still in touch with vijay and recommend all to interact with him if you want bright career.

VJ at helped prepare me one on one via Skype for the interview process again and coached me on overcoming my nervousness. He also helped me tweak my resume so I would stand out. To be honest, I haven’t found a job yet, but VJ helped me in my job search.

      Keri R (Accounting) Salem, OR

My company matched [retracted] offer so I ended up staying. Still appreciate all your help. If you need a reference let me know.

Alec (Sales and Marketing) Los Angeles, CA

You gave me some good ideas about how to mention the best parts of my resume in the interview.
